About the role
The Accountant for North America is responsible for executing day to day accounting and finance activities supporting the North America wholesale partners. This role will support the AP and AR processes for the wholesale business. This role will also take on responsibility for supporting controlling activities as well as provide operational and administrative support to the wholesale partners, including participation in special projects as needed. The ideal candidate for this position would be someone looking to grow within the organization and take on new responsibilities and evolve his or her position as the business grows.
Responsibilities
1. Accurate accounting and reporting (monthly/yearly) of the Hästens operations in North America, which currently includes USA, Canada and Mexico:
- Preparation and posting of daily and monthly journal entries, adjusting entries and reclassification entries.
- Preparation of various monthly bank reconciliations and analyses of cash transfers.
- Collection of information for and preparation of various month end accruals.
- Recording and monitoring of fixed assets and related depreciation, and related monthly reporting to foreign parent.
- Preparation and reconciliation of the information required for monthly and quarterly sales tax reporting.
- Participate and evaluate the audit for the store inventory
- Prepare monthly and annually reports required by the governmental agencies
- Provide support to the sales team
- Posts revenues by verifying and entering transactions form lock box and local deposits.
- Maintains records by microfilming invoices, debits, and credits.
- Resolves valid or authorized deductions by entering adjusting entries.
- Resolves invalid or unauthorized deductions by following pending deductions procedures.
- Resolves collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history, credit line; coordinating contact with collections department.
2. Support AP and AR processes
- Pays vendors and reconciles the accounts; responds to vendor’s inquiries from a Finance prospective
- Scans and records invoices, while verifying charges are accurate
- Posts customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions
- Reconcile the partners accounts to validate payments and invoices are recorded properly
- Updates receivables by totaling unpaid invoices
- Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, trade promotions, customer service departments, and from customers
3. Provide administration support to the wholesale organization
- Register new partner agreements
- Create invoices and adjustments as necessary
- Support the wholesale partners as needed
4. Processing of confidential/sensitive administrative activities
- Analysis of sales commissions, vendor payments and other transactions, and allocation to appropriate cost centers and account classifications
- Processing and payment of employee expense reports in accordance with guidelines established by foreign parent
5. Provide support in development projects within the Hästens Group
- Support the development of systems from a financial perspective
- Participate in special projects as needed to ensure all financial impacts are represented and considered appropriately
Skills and requirements
3-4 years relevant working experience in Finance and Accounting
Hands on experience with Financial Reporting and Accounting Systems (Root Stock)
Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
Knowledge of inventory management and relevant accounting impact(s.)
Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting processes and internal control monitoring
Experience in wholesale/retail industry preferred
Experience with both Public and Private roles preferred
Experience/and or willingness to work within an International business environment
Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Accounting or Finance
Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
Highly detail oriented and organized
Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, problem solving, and results
Hybrid Office/Remote working environment
International travel
Spanish Speaking a plus
